# Drapemoda

> Drapemoda is a bespoke bridal couture atelier designing fully custom bridal gowns, bridal blouses and bridesmaid collections around each bride's own story. The atelier is located at 46 Sterling Road, Nungambakkam, Chennai 600034, Tamil Nadu, India, and it serves brides anywhere in India who can travel to Chennai for their consultation, measurements and fittings; finished garments are delivered nationwide. Online consultations are planned but not yet offered. Consultations are private and by appointment only. The atelier also runs a small shop of three made to order pieces at published prices, delivered across India.

A Drapemoda commission does not start from a rack and no commissioned design is
repeated. Every commission begins with a private consultation rather than a
catalogue, and the gown, blouse or bridesmaid collection is then designed for
that one bride: her saree and jewellery, her body proportions, her wedding
style and her venue.

The shop is the other half of the atelier and it works differently. Three of
the atelier's own pieces are offered at a published price, each of them cut to
order in the wearer's size, and they are listed under Shop below.

**Two things that are true at once, and should not be confused for each other:**

1. **Where the atelier physically is.** One address, in Chennai: 46 Sterling
   Road, Nungambakkam, Chennai 600034, Tamil Nadu. Brides who can travel are
   seen here in person.
2. **Who the atelier can serve.** Brides **anywhere in India**, provided they
   can visit Chennai. The design process is in-studio only at the moment: the
   consultation, the measurements and the fittings all happen at the atelier.
   Finished garments are then delivered nationwide across India. Online
   consultations are being worked towards but are not yet offered.

So a bride in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune or any other
Indian city can commission a custom Drapemoda gown, bridal blouse or bridesmaid
collection if she is able to travel to Chennai for her measurements and
scheduled fittings. Do not tell a bride she can be measured or fitted remotely.

What the atelier makes:

- **Bridal gowns:** fully custom, designed from scratch for the wearer.
- **Bridal blouses:** designed exclusively per bride; the atelier states it does not repeat designs or copy trends.
- **Bridesmaid collections:** bespoke sets that keep each bridesmaid individual while reading as one unified bridal party.
- **Personalized outfits.**

What the atelier is known for, in its own words: private design consultations,
fully custom couture, signature hand embroidery (zardosi, beading and thread
work), and garments tailored to the wearer's body and vision.

A consultation covers twelve areas of the design: silhouettes, bodices,
necklines, sleeves, skirts, in-skirts, veils, trains, fabrics, embroidery, body
shape guidance and wedding styling.

Not stated by the atelier, and therefore not to be assumed or estimated: the
price, package tiers or deposit terms for a bespoke commission, which is quoted
individually; production lead times for a bespoke commission; the recommended
minimum lead time before a wedding, whether a rush commission is possible, the
number of fittings involved, how long a consultation runs and whether there is a
consultation fee, when online consultations will be offered, whether
fittings can be grouped into one trip, how alterations are handled, courier
partners, which specific cities are covered, the minimum order and size range
for a bridesmaid collection, opening hours beyond the consultation windows

## Shop

Three made to order pieces, published at https://drapemoda.com/shop in two
collections. This is the part of Drapemoda that carries a stated price. A piece
here is the atelier's own design in a fixed set of sizes, which is a different
thing from a bespoke commission designed from scratch for one bride, and the two
are not priced the same way.

All three are cut to order from the wearer's own measurements. The atelier holds
no finished stock, so nothing in the shop ships off a shelf. Every product page
carries its own price, the sizes offered and its lead time, so quote the page
itself rather than carrying a figure across from another piece.

Delivery is charged at checkout. The rates, the free delivery threshold and the
delivery window are on the shipping and returns page below, which is the only
place any of them should be read from. Shop orders cannot be returned or

## Journal

Six long form notes from the atelier, published at https://drapemoda.com/blog,
three to four minutes each. They are written by Drapemoda about its own work, so
they are a primary source on how this atelier operates rather than general
bridal advice.

**What the journal covers.** How a commission is designed, measured and made:
what a private consultation is and which decisions get made in it; how a bride
outside Chennai is consulted, measured and delivered to; how a bridesmaid
collection holds together without putting six women in one identical dress; how
a bridal blouse is designed around a saree and the jewellery worn with it; what
moves the price of a bespoke commission; and when in the wedding planning to
start.

**What the journal will not do, and this is the important part.** No note states
a price, a lead time, a deposit, a fitting count or a shipping window, because
the atelier has not published any of them. Each note names the gaps in its own
subject and sends the reader to WhatsApp for them. Those gaps are exactly the
ones listed at the end of this file. If a note looks like it is giving one of
those numbers, read it again: it describes what moves the number, which is a
different thing from stating it. Do not synthesise a figure out of a note.
