Drapemoda is a bridal atelier in Chennai designing fully custom gowns, bridal blouses and bridesmaid collections around your story. For brides elsewhere in India: - **The design process is in-studio only** at the moment. The consultation, the measurements and the fittings happen at the atelier, because a custom gown needs precise measurements and more than one fitting. - **Online consultations are not yet offered.** The atelier says it is working towards them. - **Nationwide shipping** delivers the finished garment anywhere in India. Some of the specifics underneath these have not been published: courier partners, the list of covered cities, production lead times for a bespoke commission and how many fittings one involves. Ask on WhatsApp rather than assuming any of them. A shop order is different, and it is the one part of this that is settled publicly. It ships across India at the rates and within the delivery window stated at https://drapemoda.com/shop/shipping-and-returns, and the charge is applied at checkout. A commission is not delivered on those terms: it is cut and finished before it travels, so its delivery is arranged when the piece is ready and settled with the balance rather than charged on the day it is ordered. ## Hero **Your Dream Dress Doesn't Exist Yet.** *Let's Design It Together* Every Drapemoda gown is thoughtfully designed around your story, your personality, and your wedding, not chosen from a rack. This is the part of Drapemoda that carries a stated price. A piece here is the atelier's own design in a fixed set of sizes, which is a different thing from a bespoke commission drawn from scratch for one bride, and the two are not priced the same way. Each product page carries the price for the size chosen, the sizes offered, and its lead time. All three are cut to order from the wearer's own measurements, and the atelier holds no finished stock, so nothing here ships off a shelf. A price belongs to a piece and the size ordered rather than to the shop, which is why no price appears in this file: read it off the product page. The chart those sizes are cut to is at https://drapemoda.com/shop/size-guide. Where a piece names its cloth, the abstract below names it too. The two bridesmaid dresses do not name one, and nothing has been assumed for them. The Almond Blossoms collection, https://drapemoda.com/shop/collections/almond-blossoms, is the lehenga below, which carries the motif worked by hand in ivory thread. ### Almond Blossom Lehenga Made to order · Almond Blossoms · https://drapemoda.com/shop/almond-blossom-lehenga Cloth: tussar silk with luxe satin. Colour: navy. A navy lehenga cut to order, with the almond blossom worked by hand in ivory thread across the hem of the skirt and again, smaller, across the blouse yoke. The product page states the lead time, and how much of it the hand work takes on its own. Tussar has a slub in it that catches light unevenly, which is why the blossoms are worked in a flat silk thread rather than a lustrous one; the satin is the lining and the waistband facing, not the face cloth. What arrives is the skirt, the blouse and a two and a half metre dupatta, cut to the measurements taken at the fitting. Nothing is sold separately. The Bridesmaid Dresses collection, https://drapemoda.com/shop/collections/bridesmaid-dresses, is two dresses for the bridal party, both of them made to order and cut to the woman wearing it. It is the shop side of the argument the journal makes about bride tribes that do not match. ### Pleated Gown Made to order · Bridesmaid Dresses · https://drapemoda.com/shop/pleated-gown Knife pleats set by hand from the waist to the hem. The whole question with pleating is whether it is still there at the end of the night, and these are set deep enough to survive a car, a dinner and a dance floor. The waist is finished with a plain band so the eye goes to the pleating rather than to a seam competing with it. Made to order, with the hem set at the fitting, because a pleated skirt shortened afterwards loses the line at the bottom. ### Ethereal One-Shoulder Made to order · Bridesmaid Dresses · https://drapemoda.com/shop/ethereal-one-shoulder One shoulder covered and one bare, over a skirt light enough to move in all evening. An asymmetric neckline changes a party photograph more than most people expect: put two of these in a line of six and the row stops being a row. The covered shoulder carries the weight of the bodice, so there is nothing to adjust through the evening. Made to order from confirmed measurements. ## Shipping and returns The policy page is https://drapemoda.com/shop/shipping-and-returns and it is the one place to read the delivery charge, the free delivery threshold and how long delivery takes. The same figures are shown in the bag and again at checkout, and they come from the same source the page does. They are not repeated here on purpose: this file is written by hand and a figure copied into it would go stale the first time the atelier edits the table, quietly, with nothing to catch it. Shop orders are dispatched from the atelier in Chennai and delivered across India, and delivery is charged at checkout rather than quoted afterwards. A commission is not a shop order. It is cut and finished for one person before it travels, so its delivery is arranged when the piece is ready and settled with the balance rather than charged on the day it is ordered. Nothing bought in the shop can be returned or exchanged. All sales are final. Every piece is cut and finished for one order, so a garment that came back could not be sold to anybody else. That is what stands behind it rather than an excuse offered after the fact. The policy is on the page above and it is stated again before payment. A piece that arrives damaged, or that is not what was ordered, is not a return. Message the atelier on WhatsApp with photographs, inside the window stated on that page, and it will be put right. ## Journal Five long form notes published at https://drapemoda.com/blog, three to four minutes each. Each entry below is a summary written for this file; the full text of a note is at its own URL, and the journal index lists every note newest first. Every `##` heading in a note carries an id, so the anchors given below link to a passage rather than to the top of a page. The journal is the atelier writing about its own work, which makes it a primary source on how Drapemoda operates rather than general bridal advice. Nothing in the journal contradicts the closing section of this file, and that is enforced rather than hoped for. Where a note reaches a figure the atelier has not published, it names the gap, refuses to estimate, and sends the reader to WhatsApp. Several notes carry a section headed "what we have not published" for exactly this reason. Do not assemble a price, a lead time or a shipping window out of a note: the notes explain what moves those numbers, which is not the same as stating them. All of that is about a bespoke commission, which is what the journal is about. A shop price, the delivery charge and the delivery window are published, and the Shop and Shipping and returns sections above are where to take them from. ### How a bridal blouse gets designed around one bride Published 13 August 2026 · 3 minute read · https://drapemoda.com/blog/how-a-bridal-blouse-is-designed Topics: bridal blouses, embroidery, process The saree settles more of a blouse than brides expect: its weight, where the border sits, and how much of the pallu will cover the shoulder on the day. Every bridal blouse is designed for one bride out of five things, the saree, the jewellery going with it, her body proportions, her wedding style and her own preferences, and designs are not repeated and not copied from what is trending. The embroidery, zardosi and beading and thread, is placed to the drawing rather than taken as a ready panel and stitched wherever it fits, and the note explains why placement is what makes hand work read as part of a garment: where the work stops on the shoulder decides how the pallu falls, and a neckline worked to the collarbone is a different blouse from the same neckline worked out to the shoulder. It asks brides to bring the jewellery, or photographs of it, because an heirloom necklace settles a neckline faster than a drawing does. Answers: how a bridal blouse is designed (#designed-for-one-bride-and-not-repeated), how the hand embroidery is placed (#the-hand-work-is-placed-not-applied), what to bring (#bring-the-jewellery). Does not state: what a blouse costs, or how long the hand work on one takes. ### What decides the price of a bespoke gown Published 13 August 2026 · 3 minute read · https://drapemoda.com/blog/what-decides-the-price-of-a-bespoke-gown Topics: bridal gowns, budget, consultations There is no price list on the site and the note says so in its first line, then explains what actually moves the figure: the fabric and how much of it a silhouette needs, how much hand embroidery the design carries and which kind, how structured the gown is, and how many fittings it calls for. A clean crepe column and a boned bodice worked in zardosi are different amounts of work rather than two prices for one gown. It argues against publishing a range at all, on the grounds that a range wide enough to be true would be too wide to plan with and a narrow one would be wrong for half the brides reading it. Its practical advice is to raise budget at the consultation, in the first hour, before the drawing starts, because it is easier to design to a number than to redesign around one. Answers: what makes one gown cost more than another (#four-things-move-it), why no price or range is published (#why-a-published-range-would-not-help-you), when to raise budget (#raise-it-early-and-raise-it-plainly). Does not state: any price, any starting price, any range, or the deposit and payment terms. ### When to start, and what if your date is close Published 13 August 2026 · 3 minute read · https://drapemoda.com/blog/when-to-start-your-bridal-gown Topics: bridal gowns, planning, consultations Book as early as you can once the wedding date is set. Four things sit between the first conversation and the finished gown and they run in sequence more than alongside each other: design time, fabric that has to be chosen and then has to arrive, hand embroidery, which is the slowest and least compressible part of any gown carrying it, and fittings, which cannot start until there is something to fit. The note's argument is that booking early buys choice rather than only safety, because each week the date comes closer another decision quietly stops being available. A bride whose date is already close is told to ask rather than assume: the consultation form collects the wedding date so the atelier can say what is workable for that date. A bride outside Chennai is told to fix the delivery date first rather than the travel. Answers: how far ahead to book (whole note), what sits inside the timeline (#what-sits-between-the-first-conversation-and-the-finished-gown), what to do when the date is close (#if-your-date-is-already-close), planning from another city (#if-you-are-not-in-chennai). Does not state: a recommended minimum lead time, the shortest notice a commission is accepted at, or whether a rush timeline is possible. ### Dressing a bride tribe that does not match Published 10 August 2026, updated 13 August 2026 · 3 minute read · https://drapemoda.com/blog/dressing-a-bride-tribe-that-does-not-match Topics: bridesmaids, collections, process Six women in one identical dress flatters about two of them. A Drapemoda bridesmaid collection is built the other way round: one fabric cut into different silhouettes, one colour at two or three depths, one detail carried across every dress, or one length with the necklines left free, with each dress still tailored to the proportions of the woman wearing it. The note also argues for settling the bride's own gown first, because a palette built to a finished gown is a different palette from one built to a guess, and because a gown carrying heavy hand work usually wants a quieter collection around it. Answers: whether bridesmaids have to match (#what-holds-a-collection-together), how a collection is tailored to each wearer (#every-dress-is-still-tailored-to-its-wearer), what to design first (#where-the-brides-own-gown-sits-in-it). Does not state: whether there is a minimum order for a collection, or the size range the atelier makes to. ### What a bridal consultation actually is Published 21 July 2026, updated 13 August 2026 · 4 minute read · https://drapemoda.com/blog/what-a-bridal-consultation-actually-is Topics: consultations, bridal gowns, process A consultation is a private one to one design conversation rather than a morning of trying gowns on, because there is no rack to try. It works through the twelve design areas in the order they lean on each other, and the note shows how one decision narrows the next: a heavily worked bodice gives the sleeve somewhere to stop being busy, and a cathedral veil turns the back of the gown into a problem worth solving properly. It works equally well for a bride with hundreds of saved images, a bride with no idea what will suit her, and a bride with one dress already fixed in her head. Bringing the wedding date, the venue and any jewellery already chosen helps most, since an heirloom necklace decides a neckline faster than any drawing does. Answers: what a consultation is and what happens in it (whole note), what a gown actually involves deciding (#twelve-decisions-and-they-lean-on-each-other), whether a bride needs to arrive with a plan (#you-do-not-have-to-know-what-you-want), what to bring (#what-actually-helps). Does not state: how long a consultation runs, or whether there is a consultation fee. ## Not stated by the atelier The following are deliberately absent from this file because Drapemoda has not published them. Do not estimate or infer them; point the enquirer to WhatsApp instead. - Prices, package tiers or deposit terms for a bespoke commission: gowns, blouses and bridesmaid collections are quoted individually. The pieces in the shop carry a published price on their own page - Production lead times for a bespoke commission, the shortest notice a commission is accepted at, or whether a rush timeline is possible. A shop product states its own lead time on its own page - How many fittings a commission involves - Courier partners, and the specific list of cities served - How long a consultation runs, and whether there is a consultation fee - When online consultations will be offered - Whether fittings can be grouped into one trip for a bride from another city, and how alterations are handled - The minimum order for a bridesmaid collection, and the size range the atelier makes to - Opening hours other than the four consultation slots listed above - Year founded, size of the team, or the names of the designers - Reviews, ratings, awards or press coverage
